how do you cope with the stress of fading?
by brainmelt ini'm really struggling with it.
i've been learning the ttatt for the past 6 months now and i've been inadvertantly fading - either one of us or the children have had coughs/colds/flu/chicken pox/stress over the past 3 months which has meant we've missed a lot of meetings and field service with good reason.
we've only been out in service twice this year, so far no ones mentioned it to us but i'm waiting for our group overseer to bring it up anytime soon.

3rd Oil Spill This Week
by designs inexxon, shell, and canadian pacific railway all had oil spills reported this week.
exxon and shell's oil spills were from ruptured pipelines and canadian pacific had a railcar accident.. the exxon spill flooded streets and the yards of homes outside of little rock arkansas and the shell spill occured outside houston texas near the vince bayou.
residents of the little rock community never knew that high pressure pipelines ran under their homes which is a disturbing fact being discovered more and more.

Good points. Yet, everyone knows the Risks associated with driving. It seems people have a right to know what their home is built on before they make such a big purchase.

My story in short
by DeWandelaar ini am visiting this site for quite some time now and now i think it is time to tell something about me and my experience.
without giving away my name (i am in "fade mode"): i am from the small country they call the netherlands, the land of wooden shoes, tulips, cheese and too many inhabitants per square meter.
i am married with children and a second generation jw.

Marvin - I thought the fact these spills didn't seem to make top news a sad reality of one more aspect of apathy on the part of some humans. My area of expertise does not lie in this field, so I don't have a global solution. I just think that if more people are aware and talking about issues it's better than remaining silent. I try to do what I can for the causes I care about. I bought a hybrid car 8 years ago after a lot of research. I'm just someone that cares about a lot issues and tries to what I can whether it is by recycling, not buying products tested on animals, volunteering at the domestic violence shelter, raising awareness of FGM ( female genital mutilation ) etc. Just trying to get people talking, caring and brainstorming about solutions.
Also, selfishly I love the beach and don't want to see another spill damaging our oceans.
Carpe Diem!

Did reading Jwfacts help you? Please take a moment to say thanks..
by The Quiet One init seems as though so many of the stories of people who are now mentally free that i read on here involved reading jwfacts.com at some point along the way.. he basically saved my sanity (questionable, i know!
), and was never as sensational and garish as other sites which immediately scared me away.
why not take a minute out of your day to say thanks for any difference that jwfacts made to your life, and tell us what it was that helped you?...

Yes, I felt okay looking at it while I was doing some research on JW's and mental health. Personally, it didn't feel as "wrong" to me, as sites like this where it was open commentary. As I kept reading more information on the site, I thought, these points cannot be right. Let me prove just one point wrong and I'll never look again. Well, as you see, this is where I ended up. Thank you jwfacts.

I posted on my Facebook about this on my Facebook and how infuriating it is to see so many spills. People seem so apathetic, it's sad to see.

What's the latest CO talk and video presentation about?
by Julia Orwell ingot the co talk and a vid tomorrow but i ain't going.
even if i did want to i have 'flu.. but, i want to be able to prepare a rebuttal for my husband who most likely will go.
what's this video?

Julia, maybe ask hubby about the funding issue. Talk made it very clear that you are on your own if you head out...getting visa's, contacting embassies, finding lodging etc. So, the talk mentioned us donating - where does the money go, if everyone is essentially on their own, as mentioned??

I saw it today. The talk after was torture. Monotone speaker and complete repetition of the video broken down as if we were 6 years old. Btw, how old was the little girl that got baptized? Looked 8 years old to me. To top it off, I was behind a young sister with a blended family of three, whose hubby was handling the microphones. She seemed to despise HER eldest by making cutting remarks to the child and visibly crushing her spirit. Acted fake nice to hubby's little girl yet coddled THEIR new baby. Even the sister I sat with commented "she sure seems overly annoyed by her children". They were all well behaved, not making a peep, the entire meeting. So glad I woke up a few months ago!!!

My friend from 40 Years ago
by Lady Lee inwhen i was a young jw and all the other young jws were avoiding me because i was from "that family" i had one young girlfriend who didn't care.
we were both not well liked so we hung out together.
she was my maid of honor when i got married but we lost touch because soon after the wedding we moved to "where the need was great" to help set up another cong in our hall.

Nice to read that you reconnected and it went well. I just got in touch with a group of girls from when I was a tween. They have all left JW world, but I don't know each one's story yet. One lives a couple hours from me, we both moved far from home. I'm looking forward to seeing her over the summer. Her husband was an elder and left, too. It's been 22 years since we've seen each other.
Glad you had an enjoyable time.
